What is Think and Grow Rich about? Chapter 3

faith-2

Faith…. It’s a concept we all know.

But do we actually have an idea what faith really is?

What it means to have complete and utterly unwavering faith?

For the past two weeks I have been sitting on this chapter.  Not being able to decide what to write to you about this chapter. I am having trouble telling you what is Think and Grow Rich about in chapter 3.

Let me explain.  I realized somewhere in the past two weeks that I have no idea what faith actually is.

We are brought up thinking we know what it is.

But in actual fact I have no idea, or let me rephrase I had no idea.

I must have read this particular chapter more than ten times already.  And after every time I read it I sit down, open a word document and started to type that very first word I started this blog post with, Faith…. And then I am stuck.

I thought about it extensively, I did research, I read many quotes and I meditated.

I think that with all the principles this one is absolutely my weakest.  I don’t think I have faith, this is definitely the area in myself I should be working on, real hard.

Do you know there are 6 stages of faith one goes through in their life?

I did not know that either.  But interestingly enough, most of us never even reach the level 6 of our faith in our entire lives.

I have to say, had I not read this amazing book by Napoleon Hill, had I never known that my faith was completely nonexistent.

It’s like being blind and not knowing that you can’t actually see.

Don’t be fooled to think that I am alone.  I am not, I am actually part of the majority of people around the world.

You see, I am a born Christian, who is active in my faith from the day I can remember.  I have been taught all my life that I have to have faith, and that my faith must be strong.

But never have I been taught how to have faith… nor how to make my faith grow big and strong…

That is where the massive difference comes in.   An entire new world has opened up for me, and now I know what it really means to have faith, and how to have faith.

Faith is the eternal elixir which gives life, power and action to the impulse of thought.faith

Hello Marlene! Your post is beautiful. I have heard of this book by Napoleon Hill before but never got round to reading it. You are right about the part where we grow and now that we need to have faith but was never thought how to grow it and keep it strong.
    Thank you for this post.
    Have great days ahead 🙂

I have this book in my bookshelf, i am going to start reading it or try and start listening to the audiobook, reading all these self help books the main principle is having an unquestionable belief in yourself and visualising your end goal before its happened. Think and grow rich is one of the best books for self help ever written according to so many expert reviews.

    • Marlene W says:

You are absolutely right, spot on Matthew. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is one of the best books for self help out there. And if you already have a copy I recommend you start reading as soon as possible. This book not only helps you to make money, but it helps you improve all aspects of your life, whatever it may be that you are having difficulties with, or whatever you wish to change in your life, this book really is a priceless jewel you have in your possession and you should use it.

This book is highly acclaimed by experts as well as everyone who’ve read it. It makes for a great read as it’s very entertaining too. But I have found that after every chapter I think long and hard about everything contained within the chapter. Some of these chapters I have read up to ten times over and still every time I read with deep concentration in order not to miss anything important.

Unquestionable belief in yourself, your goals and your abilities is crucial, something we should be working to build and make strong every single day.

Thank you Matthew for stopping by, and taking the time to connect with me and leave your comment. You’ve come here for a reason, so start reading your copy of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill today… see and live the changes it brings into your life.

“Think and Grow Rich” is required reading for every entrepreneur and aspiring entrepreneur. I read it the first time when I was 17 and later found an audio copy of it.

The principles of “Think and Grow Rich” have been around since the beginning of commerce and trade. My understanding of these principles deepened considerably after I learned to quiet my mind in meditation.

For me, faith was about starting the journey toward my goals without any assurance I would get there.

    • Marlene W says:

In Christianity we are taught to have blind faith, its the same you are talking about, faith without assurance.

I wish I was fortunate enough to have had this book when I was 17. My entire life would have been a lot different than what it was. But also on the other hand one can argue that I had valuable life lessons to learn and therefor I only found this book a lot later in life.

Luckily I am in the possession to teach my young son these valuable principles at a very young age.

I have come across Think and Grow Rich many times online and have even heard people saying great things about the book. 🙂

Come to think of it, I don’t know what faith represents either, lol. I didn’t even realize there were multiple stages of faith?!

I’m certainly intrigued by Think and Grow Rich now, and will certainly check out your link 🙂

      Thank you very much Neil

You know, you just gave me an idea, I will write a post within the next few days and elaborate on the 6 stages of faith and what each entails. Its all actually really interesting. When you read it you’ll see that you can relate to different stages of faith in different stages of your life. I found it to be very enlightening.

      Something worth sharing with you.

Hi Marlene. I love that book from Napoleon Hill. In my case it was not knowing what faith was… it was to “have faith” itself… I had more faith in no being able to have or do something, than faith that I could have or do them.

I like the quote of Henry Ford, I think it was in that chapter, that says, “whather you you can or can’t do, you are right”. If you think that you are defeated then you will be. If you think that you will be successful then you will be.

That’s the way I see faith personally.

    • Marlene W says:

      Hi Guy

You are right about the quote on whatever you think you can do, you are right, and whatever you think you cannot do you are right also.

I love the book too, my biggest challenge is also faith. But, I’ll be working on my faith exactly as he explains we should every day.

  • Ian says:

Think and Grow Rich is an interesting book. It has influenced whole generations of people to work smart, not just hard. That being said it seems a little too religious for my taste so it would be difficult for me to apply in my life.
Thanks for posting and keep up the good work.

  • Melanie says:

    Hi Marlene,

I very much enjoyed reading your post. I heard about amazing book from many and finally bought a copy for myself last year. Unfortunately I haven’t taken the time to read it yet. Like many I know little about Faith and about growing it. Maybe its time I got down to reading this book.

  • Ian says:

    Hi Marlene,
Napoleon Hill was a brilliant man and his “Think and Grow Rich” is definitely one of the most influential books on the planet. Faith is something that not everyone can grasp in my opinion and I think Hill defines it in an interesting way.
Thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed reading it.

    • Marlene W says:

Thank you Ian. You are most welcome. I greatly enjoyed the book and you are right. Faith does not just come easily, Hill’s idea and explanation helped me to realize that my faith was waivering. But he helped me to fix that.

  • Darren says:

I did read this book a few years ago, but after reading your article I really think I should go back and read through it all again. I’m in a bit of a financial bind at the moment and need to find a way out of it.

I agree with where you’re at. I do think I know what faith is, but it’s the main thing I struggle to have consistency with. Thanks for getting me focusing on this vital aspect again. I’m going to go back and read the book once more.

  • Dave says:

Yup have read this book. Applied some of the things. To really get the benefits, I think I need to be more diligent in applying the techniques presented. Faith is a tough one though. The concept of having faith when you’re doubtful. I will reread and try to follow the exercises more closely.
